I've been trying to lose weight...I know, I know...
But here's my new strategy. Every Time I'm tempted by sweets- ice cream, bag of candy, etc. I think about the fabric or thread I could buy with the money instead. A bad for you fast food meal is a charm pack. A bag of candy is a spool of Isacord thread.
What better way to reward restraint than to indulge in something that will be created and last a very long time. A totally guilt free treat.

Waverly Fabric find!
I'm one of those people that loves to go to thrift shops just to browse around. Kind of like treasure hunting.
And wow did I find some treasure! Over 10 yards of Waverly home decor fabric. It's from the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village collection. I decided to make a tote out of it.
The pocket shifted a bit as I was sewing it, but overall I'm happy with it. The next one I make will have the pockets on the inside and I'm going to put a zippered pocket on the outside. The pattern is just too pretty to break it up.

Introduction
I have only started quilting around September of 2012. I've learned everything from the internet because no one in my family has ever been a quilter. It's been fun and rewarding so far and the quilting world is the warmest one.
I love free motion quilting and it's the only way I've learned. Leah Day has been a huge influence and great teacher. She has a wonderful website that offers hundreds of free motion quilting designs. Leah Day Designs .
Here's a couple of small projects.
This one is a small quilt that was done for a charity auction and marathon run. The inspiration for it was the old cartoons where the character would run and you'd see the little swirls of dust behind them.
This one is just a couple of wonky log cabin blocks that I had made and used to make into my purse.
I'll post more of my projects soon.
Feedback is always welcome. I love to learn.
